Installing showers upstairs and downstairs

A new project just started - you'll see that there was already a problem
with this shower unit, with a hole punched into the wall to get at a leaking unit.
The big worry was that a new kitchen underneath this shower would be ruined...

The wall stripped of tiles revealed that damp was everywhere:
(just look at that black and smelly wood)

Meanwhile, downstairs, everything looked ok:

except that once again, behind the tiles, dampness ruled:

Evidently these Aquilisa showers only hold the water in the pipes for a limited time!
The downstairs unit adjoined the same new kitchen, and damp was getting
through the newly plastered walls.

However, installing suitable waterproof panels, mosaic tiling and new units
and these damp corners are transformed into luxury spaces
